Happy Bhogi & Makar Sankranti Festival

Express on this day our gratitude to sunlight, green plants and the farmers who cultivate the plants for our home, agriculture, and industrial needs.

Science behind Bhogi / Makar Sankranti:

✔️ emphasis given to the life saving characteristic of solar energy.

✔️ promotion of cropping patterns which can help to overcome the problems of soil health and water salinity.

✔️ strengthening the bonds between nature and human beings. The association of animal welfare with human well being.

✔️ emphasis given to understanding the role of science as for example photosynthesis in improving agriculture.

More details about Bhogi & Makar Sankranti Festival -

✔️ Bhogi is a festival honouring Lord Indra, the God of Rains and Clouds, and it is a time when people pray to him for a bountiful crop and prosperity.

✔️ The first day is known as Bhogi. This is when the sun god is worshipped and people step out of the house in the morning to fly kites. The second day is called Sankranti and on this day, married women dress up in ethnic wear and have a get-together called Haldi-Kumkum which translates to turmeric-vermilion.

✔️ The ritual is called as “Bhogi mantalu” and is aimed at getting rid of old and negative things from your life and focus on new beginnings.

Thanks
