From Survival to Systems Change: The Journey of Mahesh Borge

Mahesh Borge’s journey is a story of resilience, self-driven transformation, and purpose-led leadership. From becoming the sole breadwinner at a young age with limited formal education to rising into senior roles within the State Government of Maharashtra and the ICICI Foundation, he has built a path defined by perseverance and impact. Today, as the Founder President of Mazisheti Shetkari Pratishthan, he bridges the gap between corporate CSR vision and grassroots realities, while also leading diverse ventures across social, hospitality, and agricultural sectors.

Mahesh Borge’s journey is a powerful blend of resilience, purpose, and impact—spanning from personal hardship to leadership across government, corporate philanthropy, and entrepreneurship.

A specialist in sustainable development and social impact, Mahesh has dedicated his career to driving meaningful change through senior roles in the State Government of Maharashtra and the ICICI Foundation. These experiences gave him a deep understanding of large-scale systems, policy implementation, and the complexities of creating real social impact.

But his story is not defined only by positions—it is shaped by perseverance.

After the loss of his father during his HSC year in 2002, Mahesh became the sole breadwinner of his family at a young age, starting his journey with only a 10th-grade qualification. What followed was not a straight path, but a 20-year journey of determination, discipline, and continuous learning. While managing full-time responsibilities, he pursued education through distance learning and went on to achieve three Master’s degrees, two Bachelor’s degrees, and over 19 certifications from institutions like Google, Facebook, and the Times Group.

This lived experience became the foundation of his mission.

Today, as the Founder President of Mazisheti Shetkari Pratishthan, Mahesh works to build systems that ensure others do not face the same barriers he once did. His work focuses on bridging the gap between corporate CSR goals and grassroots realities—helping NGOs and corporates translate intent into measurable impact.

Beyond the social sector, Mahesh is also a versatile entrepreneur. Through ventures like Borge Social and Borge Hospitality Services, he manages diverse business operations spanning social media, hospitality, and technical project reporting. At the same time, he remains closely connected to the ground through agricultural trade, actively involved in the procurement and sale of high-value crops like pomegranates and grapes.

His journey moves seamlessly between boardrooms and farmlands—between policy thinking and practical execution.

From developing sustainable resource recovery projects to understanding market dynamics, from CSR consultancy to agribusiness operations, Mahesh represents a rare combination of strategic insight and hands-on experience. His interest in data, systems, and market behavior reflects a mindset that values both impact and precision.

At its core, his story is driven by one belief:
education and opportunity should be accessible tools for transformation, not privileges.

Mahesh Borge’s journey is not just about personal success—it is about creating pathways for others, bridging gaps between systems and society, and building solutions that are both meaningful and scalable.
